We have hiked above the sea caves at Pictured Rocks in Michigan and thought it was magical so when we saw that we could do a bluff hike on the north shore, we went for it. The map said that it was possible to hike 10 miles out to a campsite, so we thought we would just go until we felt like turning around. Mother Nature decided for us. It seems there had been some bad storms in the week before and a lot of big trees had been blown down along the shore. The first .7 miles was along a boardwalk and beyond that, we were in a fairly sheltered area for another mile. After that we saw more cut trees and sawdust where things had been cleared off the path. Once we got near the sea caves, we were able to hike right along the bluff and get some lovely views, although it was fairly foggy for most of the hike. We hiked above and listened to the booming of the waves in the caves and watched kayakers explore below. The sun eventually came out and we got to see details in the textures and coloring of the many layers of rock below us. Toward the end of the sea caves, the path was closed, so we turned around and headed back.
