And we headed off to Florida! We had been trying to limit our long days of driving on this trip and had done pretty well so far. Now we had 2767 miles to drive in 5 days. Drive, stop to refuel us and the truck, use the bathroom in the trailer and then hit the road again. All nights were spent in either rest areas or truck parking near a gas station. We were incredibly happy to have our noise machine going at night, although the hum of running engines may have lulled us to sleep just fine.
It certainly wasn’t the most exciting drive and the days seemed long and yet, when we looked at the odometer, it seemed like we had driven so few miles. We bumped up our personal speed limit from 55 to 60 or even 65!
Truly, it was a pretty blah drive. it didn’t take much to excite us – a hot lunch (heated on the engine), finding a gas station with over 100 pumps, we’d take just about anything.
