Mike and I have loved camping together from the beginning of our relationship. We love to seek out secluded spots (ideally by water) and recharge by unplugging. During the summer of 2018, we had an absolutely lovely camping adventure as we made our way around Lake Michigan. We spent chunks of time at Sleeping Bear Dunes and Pictured Rock, camping hiking, and being blown away by the beauty of the Midwest in the summer. As always, we lamented not having enough time to really explore all of the places we want to get to, both close to home and farther afield. During that trip, we decided that we would make it happen: we would take a sabbatical from our jobs and find a way to get to all of the places on our must-visit list.

It took a little while to flesh out our plan and decide when and how to make it happen, but it all came together. As a preschool teacher, I wanted to stay with my group of toddlers for most of our two-year loop and we had lot of house “to-do”s that we wanted to check off before we left our home in someone else’s hands for a year. This meant that we planned our departure for the summer or 2020.

Michael and Andrea: I look forward to hearing about your adventures as you travel the USA! The photos you shared today are absolutely beautiful! Glad I will be able to “travel with you” through your blog! Safe travels and stay well!!
Wishing you a lifetime of adventure and a grand voyage over the next year. I look forward to reading your blog and living vicariously through the two of you. Perhaps we will cross paths before you return to Madison.
